What do I need?

Selecting

  • The software comes in several different suite packages. To see a complete listing and current prices, please visit the Microsoft Office Products website. Colleges may also have a licensing arrangement with Microsoft that may be of interest. Some sample suites are:
    • Office Home and Student 2007 ($149.95) - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote
    • Office Standard 2007 ($399.95) - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
    • Office Professional 2007 ($499.95) – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook (with Business Contact Manager), Publisher, and Accounting Express 2008.

There is also a free 60-day trial which is available at the Microsoft Office Trial Products website.

Installing

  • Operating System Requirements - The 2007 Microsoft Office system will run on Windows XP with Service Pack (SP) 2, Windows Server 2003 with SP 1, and Windows Vista. If one uses the Internet functionality, Internet Explorer 6.0 or 7.0, or a current version of Mozilla Firefox is required.
  • Specific hardware recommendations can be found at the Microsoft Office System Requirements website. Keep in mind these are minimum recommendations and the end user experience is subject to many factors. Ideally the hardware would consist minimally of a Pentium 2.0 GHz processor (or equivalent), 1 GB RAM, 2.0 GB of disk space, a CD or DVD drive, and a monitor that is capable of 1024x768 resolution.
